Alejandro Irarragorri Gutiérrez is the chairman of Orlegi Sports, which owns Club Santos Laguna and Atlas FC in Liga MX and Real Sporting de Gijón in La Liga 2. Under his leadership, Orlegi has become one of the most influential sports groups in Mexico and Spain.
During his time with Orlegi, Santos Laguna has won six Liga MX titles (1996, 2001, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2018), a Copa MX title (2014) and a Campeón de Campeones title (2015). Atlas FC also ended a 70-year title drought under his ownership, winning two Liga MX titles in 2021 and 2022.
Irarragorri began shaping modern Mexican football in 2006 when he took charge of Club Santos Laguna through Grupo Modelo, steering the club away from relegation and laying the foundation for Orlegi Sports. He has since expanded his vision internationally, acquiring clubs and modernizing sports infrastructure, including Academia AGA and Estadio Corona.
Irarragorri holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Universidad Anáhuac, North Campus, Mexico City. He is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
