Mikel Arriola is a distinguished public servant and executive, born in Mexico City. He holds a Law degree from Universidad Anáhuac del Norte, a Master’s in Public Policy from the London School of Economics (LSE), and a Master of Laws from the University of Chicago, which recognized him with the Professional Merit Award in 2017.
Arriola began his career in the public sector in 2002 as Litigation Coordinator for Banrural. He went on to serve in various capacities, including Compliance Officer at Rural Financial, before holding several key positions within Mexico’s Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP). From 2011 to 2017, he served as Federal Commissioner for the Protection against Health Risks and later as Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). In 2018, he ran for Mayor of Mexico City.
In December 2020, Arriola was appointed President of Liga BBVA MX. Since 2025, he has served as Commissioner of the Mexican Football Federation and as North America’s representative on the Concacaf Council.
