Roger Mason Jr. is a former NBA veteran, sports executive, entrepreneur, and board director with more than two decades of experience spanning professional sports, collective bargaining, league operations, and global business development. Over a 12-year professional playing career in the NBA and internationally, Mason established himself as a respected leader both on and off the court, gaining a unique perspective on the intersection of athlete performance, business, and organizational leadership.
During his playing career, Mason was elected First Vice President of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), serving alongside Executive Committee members including Chris Paul, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Andre Iguodala, and James Jones. In this executive role, he helped modernize and expand the organization’s impact for both active and retired players. His leadership included advancing healthcare access for retired players, helping reclaim and commercialize group licensing rights through the creation of a for-profit licensing entity, and launching innovative initiatives such as the NBPA Tech Summit, Real Estate Development Program, and NBPA Awards. These programs helped position the NBPA as a forward-thinking organization focused on long-term player empowerment.
Mason later served as Commissioner and President of the BIG3 Basketball League, where he helped build the league into a globally recognized sports property. He led key areas including player recruitment, media rights negotiations, sponsorship development, licensing, and league operations, successfully creating new professional opportunities for athletes while delivering significant commercial growth and visibility for the league.
Currently, Mason is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vaunt, a sports and entertainment intellectual property and content company focused on developing next-generation sports formats, media platforms, and global sports properties.
